Chiropractic comes from the Greek work
chiropraktikos, meaning "Effective treatment by hands." WHY CHIROPRACTIC WORKS
At the center of all this healing is the nervous
system, the brain and spinal cord and the nerves extending out from
the spine to all parts of the body, acting as the master control for
all of the body. The nervous system controls every function performed
by the body directly or indirectly. Accidents, falls, overexertion,
nutrition, stress, tension, and countless other factors can result in
displacement or derangement of the spine, also known as a SUBLUXATION
to chiropractors. These subluxation cause irritation and possible
damage to the spinal nerve roots. The irritation, while often
painless, can at times cause malfunctions in the body by interfering
with the brain-body connection. Dr. Rosania, as a doctor of
chiropractic, is trained to detect and remove these subluxations
allowing your body to improve the communication within. Thus
improving the patients healing abilities, function, physical and
mental health. HOW THE BODY IS CONNECTED
Your spinal column or "backbone" is made
up of 24 bones, called vertebrae. There are 7 vertebrae in the neck
or Cervical Spine, 12 vertebrae in the mid back or Thoracic Spine,
and 5 vertebrae in the low back or Lumbar Spine. There are 2 bones at
the end of the column that make up your tailbone, the Scrum and
Coccyx. These bones are separated by DISCS. Within this spinal column
is your spinal cord that connects your brain to your body. Nerves
enter and exit the spinal column through gaps between the bones. The
following is a list of what parts of the body receive information and
are affected from what level of the spine.
Upper
Neck, The first 2 bones. (Cervical Spine)
The nerves that exit the spine from the first 2
vertebrae send signal back and fourth to the head, face, upper neck,
inner & middle ear, sympathetic nervous system*, sinuses, eyes,
auditory nerves, pituitary gland, scalp, brain, ears, mastoid bones,
tongue, forehead, and heart.
Mid/Lower
Neck (Cervical Spine)
The nerves that exit the spine from the next 5
vertebrae in the neck send signals back and fourth to the neck, neck
glands, neck muscles, vocal cords, mucus membranes, thyroid, tonsils,
mouth, lips, teeth, cheeks, outer ear, Eustachian tubes, nose, lungs,
Brachial Plexus*, shoulders, bursa in the shoulders, and elbows.
Mid
Back (Thoracic Spine)
The nerves that exit the spine from the next 12
vertebrae send signal back and fourth to the arms, hands, wrists,
fingers, heart (including its valves and covering), coronary
arteries, chest, breast, esophagus, trachea, lungs, bronchial tubes,
gallbladder, liver, common duct, solar plexus, stomach, pancreas,
spleen, kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, adrenal glands, appendix,
small intestines, large intestines, testes, ovaries, uterus,
circulation, lymph circulation, and more.
Lower
Back (Lumbar Spine)
The nerves that exit the spine from the next 5
vertebrae send signal back and fourth to the large intestines,
inguinal rings, appendix, abdomen, bladder, prostate gland, sex
organs, uterus, muscles of the lower back, sciatic nerve, legs,
ankles, feet, Sacral Plexus* and more.
Tailbone,
Sacrum and Coccyx
The nerves that exit the tail bones send signals
back and fourth to the hip bones, tail bone, Sacral Plexus*,
buttocks, rectum, anus, sex organs, genitalia, urinary bladder,
ureter, and prostate.
By eliminating or reducing the Subluxation though
chiropractic manipulation you are able to effect certain areas of the
body and their function. Thus allowing the body to operate more
efficiently and more comfortably.
